Research Data Scotland (RDS) is one of the sponsors of the annual Scotsman/University of Edinburgh data conference on Wednesday 27 September 2023.

The ‘DataFutures, AI Futures’ conference takes place at the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh and will explore challenging themes like how data and AI are shaping the future of the workforce and sustainable energy supplies; how they can be used to make the world a safer place for children and our ageing population.

The RDS breakout panel will focus the discussion on shaping the future of the public sector using data. Confirmed participants include Layla Robinson, Chief Partnership and Strategy Officer, Manira Ahmad, Head of Local Intelligence at Public Health Scotland, Professor Mark Parsons, Director at EPCC and Dean of Research Computing at University of Edinburgh and Dr Ken Sutherland, President and CEO of Canon Medical Research Europe Ltd.

Commenting on the event, Layla Robinson, Chief Partnership and Strategy Officer at RDS said:

“The Data Conference is an important annual gathering in the data, research and innovation sector. I’m delighted that RDS will be sponsoring the conference again and we’ll have an opportunity to hear from thought-provoking speakers and discuss how data-driven insights can help shape society for the better.”

The broadcaster and author Stephanie Hare will deliver the keynote talk and other speakers include: Deborah Fry, Professor of International Child Protection Research and Director at Childlight; Professor Shannon Vallor, Baillie Gifford Chair in the Ethics of Data and Artificial Intelligence at the Edinburgh Futures Institute; Thusha Rajendran, Professor of Developmental Psychology at Heriot-Watt University.
