Charity Finance Group (CFG) support over 1,400 charities, social change and public benefit organisations to deliver impact to their causes by developing finance skills in the third sector. Hugh Wallace has joined the CFG Board of Trustees, bringing skills from his experience in the private, public and charity sectors in both Scotland and England.
At Research Data Scotland (RDS), Hugh oversees the Digital team and is responsible for the development of our digital services, including the upcoming Researcher Access Service. A streamlined data access platform, the Researcher Access Service will simplify the application and approvals process and offer an end-to-end digital journey for the first time.
Hugh’s previous roles have involved leading a high-profile programme to deliver a common payments platform in Scottish Government and supporting digital service development within Scotland’s Social Security agency. Prior to that, he led the digital teams at Oxfam and National Museums Scotland.
In November 2022, CFG registered with the Office of the Scottish Regulator to extend and deliver services in Scotland. The organisation is developing its data and digital-first approaches, and Hugh’s experience will help CFG to shape its offering to reach even more charities and social change organisations.
Commenting on his new trusteeship, Hugh said: “I am delighted to be joining CFG and helping to develop its digital resources. Our work at RDS has shown that digitisation is an invaluable step in improving accessibility and usability of services, and I am looking forward to assisting and guiding CFG in its work.”
“When I met the team from CFG there was mutual recognition that there was synergy between my background and CFG’s aims and ambitions. There’s a shared mission between CFG and RDS and we share the same values. I’m looking forward to getting a better understanding of CFG’s DNA and making a real contribution on the Board.”
Gary Forster, Chair of CFG, commented: “We warmly welcome Hugh to the Board. He brings strategic understanding of the importance of financial leadership and, along with his technical skills, we value his contributions to our deeper understanding of the private and third sectors in Scotland. Along with the rest of the Board and team at CFG, we wish him all the best in his trusteeship.”
