Award win for ADR Scotland team

Partnerships Collaboration

Research Data Scotland

08 Jul 2024

Research Data Scotland and Scottish Government jointly received an ADR UK award this June for Outstanding Teamwork on the ADR Scotland programme.

RDS began work as a delivery body for the ADR Scotland programme in 2023. Since then, our team have delivered several datasets, which are now available for research. These include the addition of new datasets within Scotland’s National Safe Haven, such as the EU Farm Structure Survey 2010 and Achievement of Curriculum for Excellence Levels, as well as updates to existing datasets.

We have built on the good practice that was in place already, adopting and adapting existing systems and processes where appropriate and introducing approaches which have helped us to deliver at pace. This includes the development of a Reproducible Analytical Pipeline (RAP) which provides a consistent approach to data preparation with only minor, dataset-specific adaptations where required, making the process significantly faster.

Nora Cooke O’Dowd, Chief Data Officer said:

“When our partnership was announced as the winner of ADR UK’s Outstanding Teamwork Award in June, how far we’ve come in that time really hit home.

“Making progress on a project with such a scale as this can seem incremental at times, so it’s fantastic that the dedicated team of people working on this across both RDS and Scottish Government has been recognised.

The aims of RDS and ADR Scotland are closely aligned and working with Scottish Government to deliver this has been a fantastic opportunity for learning and developing across the team.”
