The event took place at the Edinburgh Futures Institute on Thursday 19 June, and featured representatives from over 40 different organisations, including Scottish Government, the NHS, various arts, culture and heritage institutions, and local government. It was based on an ‘unconference’ format, where participants pitch different topics and themes, and the agenda is decided by voting on the day.
Hugh Wallace, RDS’s Chief Information Officer, said: “We were thrilled to be part of GovCamp Scotland – it’s the first time the event has run since 2013 and it’s been exciting to have been part of bringing it back.
“We participated closely with a small team from Public Digital, NHS Education for Scotland and the National Library of Scotland. All of us work across different aspects of service delivery in Scotland and felt this was a much-needed opportunity to bring practitioners and decision makers together.
“RDS’s services cross over many different parts of the public sector. This kind of event helps us get under the skin of different challenges and opportunities our partners are facing: from data sharing and digital transformation, to organisational culture and the practical considerations of adopting AI.”
